This town is known as the action capital of the world. On offer are activities such as Bungee Jumping and Jet Boating, which are both New Zealand inventions. In addition there is also parapenting, white water rafting, tramping (hiking) and four wheel drive treks.

The town is probably most famous for it's skiing however, as there are many world class facilities that operate during the northern hemisphere summer.

Queenstown also has a fine range of shops and restaurants as well as an abundance of Tour Operators and Travel Agents. It is easy to book any of the exciting adventures on offer here and the surrounding area. One trip that comes recommended is a sightseeing flight over nearby Fiordland National Park. The scenery is spectacular as you get a birds eye view of this steep and mountainous World Heritage Area.

Locally, Queenstown has a reputation as one of New Zealand's wine and cuisine centres. Neighbouring, historic Arrowtown features excellent restaurants and bars, and Queenstown lies close to the centre of a small wine producing region, reputed to be the world's southernmost. Pinot noir produced in this area fetches premium prices.
