Located on the New England Highway 223 km from Brisbane lies Stanthorpe a rural town in Queensland. The main industry is agriculture and there are over wineries in the surounding area.
At an altitude between 873 and 950 metres, Stanthorpe holds the record for the coldest temperature in Queensland at -11.0 °C in July 1895. The temperature can go higher than 30 °C in the summer.
