About Lorikeet
Lorikeets are small to medium-sized parrots that are widely distributed throughout Australia. Their diet consists of nectar and fruit. Lorikeets are some of the most spectacular looking of all parrots. The Rainbow Lorikeet in particular has an unrivalled rich multi-coloured plumage.
Other lorikeets include the Purple-crowned Lorikeet, Little Lorikeet, Varied, Musk Lorikeet, and Red-collared Lorikeet. Lorikeets are also playful and energetic and are popular as pets. However, they require a specialised diet consisting of nectar which is higher maintence compared to many other bird species.
