Victoria Barracks on St Kilda Road in Melbourne was originally built for accommodating the British Imperial Garrison troops and later Victorian colonial forces. The Barracks housed Army Headquarters from Australian Federation until the 1960s. During World War II, Victoria Barracks also housed the Australian War Cabinet and the Department of Defence.
