Adelaide is the capital and biggest city in the state of South Australia. The city is the fifth-largest city in Australia and is situated in the south of the state where there is enough rain fall to sustain a big city. Otherwise most of South Australia is considered Outback and is sparsely populated. The exception is the area immediately south of Adelaide which sustains a rural population and burgeoning wine industry.
The city is well organised and is known for its parks. The metropolitan area is separated from the suburbs by a large green belt that completely encircles the CBD. Adelaide is also a coastal city like most in Australia. There are some great beaches in the Glenelg area including Aldinga, Maslin, and Moana beaches which are popular with locals and visitors alike.
Adelaide enjoys a Mediterranean climate with long hot and dry summers and wet winters.
