Aireys Inlet is a small town with a famous inlet located between the small towns of Anglesea and Lorne. On the famous Great Ocean Road, Airleys Inlet has some great coastal scenery. The coast is best described as sandy sections divided by rock shelves or many small and secluded coves. Included are such gems like Sunnymeade and Sandy Gulley while Fairhaven Beach (the largest beach) is known for its surf as are a number of other beaches.
Some notable attractions in the area include the inlet itself which is caused by sea water being trapped behind sand dunes. Split Point Lighthouse nearby is accessible by a scenic walk from the inlet and other locations. This lighhouse is located behind Eagle Rock, a rock stack that is visible from this walk at Split Point.
The town of Airleys Inlet is growing in popularity due to its location on the Great Ocean Road and local beaches. It suffered a temporary decline after the Ash Wednesday Fires which did significant damage to the town. Demand for properties is high, especially properties that afford a view of the coast.
