The Whitsunday Islands are located in the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, Australia. The nearest towns on the Australian mainland are Bowen and Mackay with Airlie Beach on the coast as the main gateway to the islands.
With around 74 islands, there is a lot to see. While some islands have accomodation options and services, others are designated national parks and reserves. Whether developed or not, all islands have great beaches and excellent diving amongst coral gardens.
The islands are divided into four groups, which are: The Whitsunday Group, Lindeman Group, The Molle Group, and Northern Group.
