Dry undergrowth means this forest on Hamilton Island is susceptible to a bushfire. While drought precedes a fire, lots of rain before the drought provides perfect conditions for a fire because it encourages lots of undergrowth. During a drought, the undergrowth dries out and can easily burn given a spark.
