The Lake Bellfield is located close to the small town of Halls Gap. The lake was created by a dam that was built in 1966 to provide water for Halls Gap and two other towns, Pomonal, and Stawell. Situated in the scenic Grampians, the lake is good for fishing with opportunities to catch some trout, redfin, and blackfish. The lake is also suitable for canoeing which offers some scenic views of the Grampians. Many parrot species frequent the area because of the water and left over food from visitors barbeques and picnics.
