Devonport is a suburb in Auckland's North Shore that adjoins the suburb of Cheltenham. Located on the southerly tip of the North Shore, it affords views of Waitemata Harbour if you venture up Mount Victoria where downtown Auckland and the Auckland Harbour Bridge are clearly visible. Nearby North Head offers views of the Hauraki Gulf.
Devonport and the rest of the North Shore is accessible by car via the Auckland Harbour Bridge, but Devonport itself can be directly accessed by ferries that depart regularly throughout the day, from Pier 1 at the Ferry Terminal on Quay Street in downtown Auckland. This makes Devonport a popular spot with tourists and locals often take the ferry in the evening for dinner and enjoy the view of Auckland at night on the return trip.
Devonport has some great cafes, restaurants and an array of shops that specialise in antiques, gifts, and books. There are a number of reserves and Devonport even has its own beach aptly named Devonport Beach. All this makes Devonport a desirable location to live.
