Mt Eden is both a volcanic cone and the suburb that surrounds it. The volcano is the highest point in the city and offers a 360 degree panorama of Auckland including Auckland CBD, Waitemata Harbour, and the Waitakere Ranges out to west.
The suburb is a popular place to live and visit, partly due to being close to Auckland's CBD. Mt Eden Village is the main area of shops and is a great place to get a coffee or dine in one of the many fine food restaurants. Eden Park which is on the boundary of Mt Eden and Kingsland is the biggest sports stadium in New Zealand and was the main stadium for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
