While travelling around New Zealand, you’re are likely to visit a major city such as Auckland or Christchurch as they have the 2 biggest airports. While Wellington is the second largest city in New Zealand its airport is smaller than the other 2 main cities due to the hilly topography. But Wellington is an essential arrival or departure point if you take the Interislander ferry. Queenstown also hosts international flights due to it being a major southern hemisphere ski area as well as many other tourist attractions.
Outside the cities, there are plenty of towns dotted around the country. These service the rural economy and provide essential services to travellers.
