Aotea is the newest suburb of Porirua. The suburb of Waitangirua can also be seen in the distance. Aotea is typically made up of big modern homes on small plots of land. This suits many professional people because of minimal work required to maintain the sections. Planted trees plants around properties here are usually natives as they tend to need minimal care. The suburb is still expanding and has many new plots of land for sale.
