Mount Victoria (Mt Vic) is a 196 metre hill close to the CBD of Wellington city. At the top of the hill is a lookout providing 360 degree views of the city, harbour, and south coast.
Two prominent buildings located on the hill are Government House which is the home of the Governor General and St Gerard a Catholic Monastery. A suburb of the same name occupies one side of the hill while other suburbs such as Rosneath, Evans Bay, and Hataitai reside in other locations.
Running underneath the hill is the Mount Victoria Tunnel which connects the central city with Wellington International Airport and eastern suburbs. An alternative route is to drive around the bays which is one of the most scenic drives in Wellington.
