About Christchurch Beaches
Christchurch city is located on Pegasus Bay which is on the eastern coast of the South Island. The city also encompasses part of the intricate coastline around the northern side of Banks Peninsula.
Highlights of the Christchurch coastline include:
Sumner Bay - A great beach for swimming and surfing. Also a beachside suburb with cafes, restaurants, and other shops.
Taylors Mistake - A popular surfing spot with some great walks and mountain bike trails in the surrounding area.
Banks Peninsula - A whole host of secluded beaches here with stunning landscapes.
Southshore Spit - A place to see many wading birds in their natural environment.
