About Pelorus River

Pelorus River is located in the Marlborough region in the South Island. The river water is renown for its clarity. The river's source is the Richmond Range and eventually empties into Pelorus Sound in the north.

Set within a pristine scenic nature reserve, Pelorus River is a popular stopover for travellers heading between Picton and Nelson. It offers a cafe, a camp site, and a number of scenic walks through native forest.

The river featured in the Peter Jackson directed trilogies 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit'.
