While New Zealand, and specifically Nelson, may be well-known for its wine, it is also a producer of high-quality olive oil. Unlike the wine industry, which has been primarily developed by large companies, the olive industry has largely been developed by smaller enthusiasts. Nevertheless, the success of the wine industry provides a useful roadmap for the further development of the olive industry.
