The Wairarapa is a rural district within the Wellington region that is separated from Wellington city by the Rimutaka Mountains. Rural agricultural industries here include beef, dairy, deer, and sheep farming as well as cropping, forestry, and wine production. The area around Martinborough is renown for fine vineyards and award winning wine. Tui beer is brewed at Mangatainoka.
