North Head is a headland on the North Shore. It is actually one of a series of volcanic cones in Auckland city. In the past it was used by the military as a defence post due to unobscured views out in to the Hauraki Gulf and Waitemata Harbour. Today, you can walk through the remains of tunnels and bunkers.
