Orakei Korako also known as The Hidden Valley is an active geothermal area located on the banks of the Waikato River in New Zealand's Taupo region. Volcanic attractions include sinter terraces, over 20 natural geysers, many boiling hot springs, bubbling mud pools, and native bush walks. The most outstanding feature in the park is the thermal Ruatapu Cave which descends 120 feet to a hot pool.
On the banks of the Waikato River is Emerald Terrace which is the largest in country since the Mount Tarawera eruption in 1886 which destroyed the famous Pink and White Terraces.
