Temperate Rainforest on Mt Ruapehu

| The lower slopes of Mount Ruapehu is partially covered in temperate rainforest. This forest type eventually gives way to stunted trees and scrub as you head higher and it gets colder. Eventually all vegetation gives way to bare rock and scree which is covered in snow for much of the year. |
