Australian Extremities.
- Australia's Northern-most point is the tip of Cape York in Queensland. Thursday Island (the town) is the northern most town.
- Australia's Eastern-most point is Cape Byron in New South Wales.
- The Western-most point is off the coast of Western Australia on Dirk Hartog Island. On the mainland only it is Steep Point in Western Australia.
- Australia's Southern most most point is South Cape in Tasmania. Wilsons Promontory in Victoria is the southern most point of mainland Australia.
- If you travelled across Australia in a dead straight line from the Northern most point to the Southern most point, you would travel approximately 3680km; from the Eastern most point to the Western most point, approximately 4000km.
