Tonga's economy is based in agriculture, which accounts for almost on-third of GDP and two-thirds of total exports. The main crops grown here include: bananas, coconuts, squash, and vanilla beans.
Livestock that graze here include: pigs and poultry with an increase in cattle farming.
The biggest island, Tongatapu, has plantations of coconut trees, pumpkins, taro, and vanilla. Due to the rural economy and growing population, there is little forested areas left. The surround islets and islands are mostly still in their natural state.
