Fishing in Tonga

Tonga has excellent game fishing due to the archipelago's location to Tonga Trench. Trenches are the deepest parts of the ocean floor.

The island group of Vava'u has resorts catering for anglers interested in catching marlin and other species. Game fishing charters in Vava'u are also available. Line fishing off reefs is good, but it is advisable to bring your own gear as everything processed or manufactured is imported into Tonga and can be very expensive. There are no rivers in Tonga, but some islands such as Eua have creeks but are unsuitable for fishing.
